What is PGDM/PGDM (Pharma)/PGDM (Biotech)?

Post Graduate Diploma Management (PGDM) is a 2 year full time program covered over four semesters and offers students a dual specialization ensuring that they are thoroughly skilled in at least one functional area while having more than a fundamental working knowledge of another. The PGDM course seeks to enhance the students’ learning by offering knowledge-building projects in each semester, while fine-tuning their leadership, communication and inter-personal skills
Post Graduate Diploma in Management (Pharma) (PGDM - Pharma) was started in 1997 in collaboration with the Indian Drug Manufactures Association (IDMA). It is a 2 year full time program catering to the needs of the Pharma industry, and offers education on industry specific subjects like Pharmaceutics, Physiology, GMP, Pharma Marketing (including Product Management, Brand Building, New Project Launch and Sales Force Management), IPR, Drug Regulation, International Marketing in addition to General Management. SIESCOMS is the pioneer to recognize the Pharma industry's need for skilled and competent professionals in the knowledge economy

The program aims at meeting Pharma industry’s demands for professionals who are well equipped to take on the challenges of business in the knowledge economy and developing marketing professionals who have insight into the market place and are aware of global trends.

The PGDPM program is slowly ushering into the entire healthcare industry on a holistic basis and catering to the needs of CROs, CRTOs and so on. International marketing is the other emerging focus.

Post Graduate Diploma in Management (Biotech) (PGDM – Biotech) is a 2 year full time program covered over four semesters. Biotechnology is a unique industry and has its own individual demands, causing exceptional needs for the industry. With a growth rate of almost 37%, there is a dearth of managers who understand the specialty and novelty of this field, people trained to tackle issues related to IPR, finance, marketing, personnel in this sector. There arises thus, a new need the need for specialized Biotech Business Managers.

In this kind of a scenario, SIESCOMS & SIES Indian Institute of Environmental Management took the lead in inaugurating the Post Graduate Diploma in Biotech Business Management, a 2-year full time programme. The above program is a unique offering by combining core competencies of the both the institutes: management and bio-sciences.

 

Who all are eligible for these courses?

PGDM: A graduate in any discipline from a recognized university with a minimum of 50 percent marks throughout the academic career is eligible. The students who are appearing for final year examination/ awaiting final year results can also apply.
PGDM (Pharma): A Graduate in Pharmacy / Life Science / Micro-Biology / Bio-Chemistry from a recognized university with minimum of 50 per cent mark throughout the academic career is eligible. The students who are appearing for final year examination/ awaiting final Year results may also apply.

PGDM (Biotech): A Graduate in Pharmacy / Life Science / Micro-Biology / Bio-Chemistry from a recognized university with minimum of 50 per cent mark throughout the academic career is eligible. The students who are appearing for final year examination/ awaiting final Year results may also apply.

 

What is the total intake for these courses?

PGDM             120 seats
PGDM (Pharma) 60 seats
PGDM (Biotech) 30 seats
 

Are these courses approved by any regulatory body?

Yes all the 3 courses are approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE)

 

What is the fee structure?

PGDM: Fee charged was Rs.1.6 lacs/- per year (for academic session 2006-07)
PGDM (Pharma): Fee charged was Rs.1.3 lacs/- per year (for academic session 2006-07)
PGDM (Biotech): Fee charged was Rs.1.3 lacs/- per year (for academic session 2006-07)

 

Is laptop mandatory?

Yes laptop has been made mandatory from the academic year 2007-08 for all the 3 courses.

Should I buy my own laptop or will the college provide me with one?

The college will provide you with a laptop, the cost of which would be charged over and above the fees

Where can I get the Admission form from?
The forms can be bought from the college campus or any IMS Centres. The addresses can be obtained from our college website www.siescoms.edu. Forms can also be downloaded from the websites. The remittance for such forms should be paid to the college office at the time of submission.

What documents are required at the time of submission?

  • Marksheets of  X & XII
  • Passing certificates of X & XII
  • Marksheets of  all semesters of graduation
  • Date of birth proof
  • 2 photographs
  • Work experience certificate if any

    Please tell me about the selection process?

    The selection process comprises of

  • Aptitude Test: This is for duration of  around 45 minutes.
  • Group Discussion: GD will consist of either a topic or a case study and the          total time duration is of 30 minutes
  • Personal Interviews: Two rounds of personal interviews will be conducted         wherein the applicants will be analysed on technical and behavioural aspects by         our faculty members and industry experts.
  • The entire process will be completed in half a day at SIESCOMS, Nerul and other centres depending on the number of applicants.

     

    How will the merit list be drawn?

    The merit list will be drawn on a rating matrix of parameters comprising of  Academics, Experience and performance based on the selection process.

     

    How will I know if I am selected?

    The merit list will be displayed on the college notice board and uploaded on the website. You will also receive a phone call and a letter informing you of your selection and the further proceedings.

    Does the college provide hostel facility?
    No. The college does not provide any hostel facility.  But the college will help you out in getting the hostel.

    I would like to know about the infrastructure of the Institute?

    What is the placement scenario of the Institute?
    A placement committee comprising of a faculty member and few students takes care of all placement related activities.  The institute has had an impeccable record of 100% and wonderful placement records over the last few years.  The quality of placement is improving years on year.  The average salaries are also going up substantially.  The details of the placement can be seen at the appropriate link.
